Allvio vs Vectron: Feature by Feature, Including Six Paid Add-Ons

Vectron is a serious till with German engineering and Australian offices in four states. Here is the full 43 row list, including the six capabilities that arrive only through a paid add on.

Vectron built its name on the till and the hardware under it. Of the 43 jobs we compared, 15 are included, three do part of the job at no extra cost, six are only available through a paid add on or a higher cloud tier, two are a plain no, one we could not establish, and 16 sit outside what the product is for. Those 16 are not failings. Vectron is a point of sale company with German engineering behind it and Australian offices in four states, and your roster was never on its list.

The till, and the metal it runs on

This is where Vectron earns its customers. Their own POS 7 manual documents touchscreen operation, guest check handling with a list of open checks, splitting a bill, separate invoicing for groups or single people, and counter sales alongside table service. Z reports are the final end of day reports that clear the booking memory and X reports are intermediate readings, and Vectron Commander polls them centrally along with item, operator and turnover reports.

Order Hub is their own kitchen display system for kitchen and bar: real time order display, colour coded due and overdue status, item and course timing, and it handles takeaway as well as table service. Remote printing covers the docket case. Stock counts are included, a row where their column is a yes and ours is only part of the job, because a full stocktake at the register is not in Allvio yet. Discounts and price levels, gift cards, refunds and voids, and cash up and end of day are all in the base till.

All 43 rows, with the money made visible

Three cells here look similar and are not. Part of it means Vectron does some of the job at no extra cost. Costs extra means a paid add on or a higher cloud tier. Check with them means their published material does not settle it.

The rows that decide it

QR ordering at the table is the first. Vectron does it well and it is their own product: the guest scans the code, lands on a digital menu in a webshop with no app and no registration, the order transfers to the point of sale, and there is payment with a tip function. It is a separately priced package. In Allvio the table QR code and the ordering page are part of the subscription, which is the difference between a decision and a line item.

The second is anything to do with marketing. Email campaigns, customer segments, visit and spend history and campaign results all live in bonVito, Vectron's own loyalty and campaign platform, and bonVito is a paid add on. It is real: it collects demographic and transaction data against a customer card, lets you group customers and target them, and reports coupon campaigns by branch. But it is money on top, it is shaped around coupons rather than general email, notes and preferences and allergies against a guest are a no, and automated birthday and win back journeys are a no.

Third is what you can see from home. The myVectron reporting app is a genuine iOS and Android app showing daily sales company wide and by branch, comparisons to reference days, hourly breakdowns, top ten items and operator rankings, and it sits on the higher cloud tier. Allvio gives you full reporting in a phone browser rather than a native app, which is why our cell says part of it. Theirs is the nicer thing to hold. Ours is not a tier decision.

Fourth is the diary. Bookings are outside what Vectron does, so a venue that takes them runs a second product and keeps its trading hours matching the till by hand, five minutes at a time, forever.

Where 15, three, six, two, one and 16 come from

They make 43 because every capability had to land somewhere. The 16 are scope, not shortcoming: a narrower product is not a worse one, and the question it raises is who buys and runs the rest. The single unknown is upsells and promo codes on the ordering page, which their own help material never mentions either way, so the table says check with them. The six that cost extra are the ones to price before you sign, because four of them are how you get people back through the door. Any pos system comparison that ignores the add on list is comparing the wrong number.

Who should still choose Vectron

A pub, hotel or gaming venue that wants its hardware chosen, installed and serviced by an office in its own state, and a till whose manual reads like it was written by engineers, because it was. If you already have a diary you like and a rostering product your staff have learnt, Vectron covers the front of house end thoroughly as a bar pos system.

If the add on list is where your money goes

Then add it up before you commit, because six rows of that table are priced separately. Allvio Complete is $399 per month ex GST for one location and $299 per month for each extra one, with every app switched on and no per user charge, and the same subscription also covers your invoicing, payroll and the books. Build your own starts at $20 per month per app. Hardware is sold outright at $1,499 ex GST for the single station, $1,869 retail and $2,499 restaurant, and the trial runs 30 days with no card.

Questions venues ask about Vectron

Does Vectron take restaurant bookings?
No. A booking diary, website bookings, waitlists, deposits and guest reminders all sit outside what Vectron does, so a venue that takes bookings runs a second product alongside the till and keeps its trading hours matching by hand.

What costs extra with Vectron?
Six of the 43 capabilities: QR ordering at the table as a priced package, visit and spend history through the paid loyalty add on, customer segments and email campaigns through bonVito, campaign results tied back to spend, and reporting on your phone, which sits on a higher cloud tier.

What is bonVito?
bonVito is Vectron's own loyalty and campaign platform, sold as a paid add on. It collects transaction data against a customer card and lets you group and target customers, but it is built around coupons rather than general email, and it does not run automated birthday or win back messages.

Does Vectron handle payroll, invoicing or BAS?
No. Invoices and quotes, payroll and payslips, and GST and BAS figures are outside what a point of sale does. One Allvio subscription covers all three alongside the till.
