me&u after reservations: what the platform covers now, row by row

me&u is no longer QR ordering only. Here is the full 43 row capability list, including the four booking rows their published material does not settle and the three ordering rows where they beat us.

me&u has changed shape. After the Mr Yum merger it became the clear leader in QR order and pay in Australia and New Zealand, and it has since added a CRM and, more recently, a reservations product. So this page cannot treat it as QR ordering only. Of the 43 jobs we compared in this POS system comparison, me&u covers 16, four do part of the job at no extra cost, 19 sit outside what the product is for because it is not a point of sale, and four cannot be established from their published material at all. All four of those are on the booking side.

Ordering, and the guest data behind it

Seven rows out of seven under online ordering are a yes, and three are rows where me&u is a yes and Allvio is only part of the job. Modifiers, sizes and dietary flags are complete in theirs and nested modifiers are not in ours yet. Splitting a bill online is there and is not in Allvio yet. Upsells and promo codes are both there and automatic upsell prompts are not in ours yet. If ordering at the table is the whole of what you need, me&u does it better than we do, and the table says so. What Allvio's QR code ordering system gives you instead is the same menu behind the till and on the ordering page, with no commission per order.

The customer side is strong and their own material is specific about it. Their CRM builds guest profiles that let you engage automatically based on lifecycle, recency, frequency and spend behaviour, including last visit, order value, anniversaries and birthdays, and it brings in data from third party sources. All four marketing rows are a yes, and four of the five under knowing your customers.

All 43 rows, including the four we will not guess at

Yes means included. Part of it means the product does some of the job at no extra cost. Check with them means their published material does not say, which is not a no and we have not written it as one. Not what it does means the capability sits outside the product's purpose.

The four booking rows their material does not answer

This is the honest heart of the page. Their reservations product is headed as an all in one reservations, voice and functions platform, and the product is real. But four things a diary does daily are not described anywhere in their published material: whether a venue can take bookings from its own website through a widget or an embed, whether a deposit or a stored card can be required, whether there is a waitlist or any way to enter a walk in, and whether confirmations and reminders go out to the guest. We have not marked those as a no, because missing documentation is not a missing feature. The table says check with them, and those are the four questions to put in writing.

Three more booking rows do part of the job. The functions module is real, with operator and guest facing portals and sales stages, but ticketing with price tiers is not described. Smart floor management is claimed to prevent double bookings and a table plan is shown in their own media, but nothing published describes laying out a floor or dragging a booking onto a table. The only published availability control is a shorter seating time option to fill gaps.

None of that makes the product bad. It makes it new, and a reservations module launched this year is not the same thing as a diary that has been taking Saturday nights for years. The difference shows up in the unglamorous places: what happens to a deposit when a booking moves, what the reminder says at ten in the morning, what the waitlist does when a four top frees up at twenty to eight. Allvio's diary is a yes on bookings from your own website, on waitlist and walk ins, on confirmations and reminders and on availability rules.

Where the 19 comes from

me&u is not a point of sale and has never said otherwise. The nine selling rows and the sales and end of day reporting row are outside its scope for that reason, along with rostering, timesheets, leave and the back office. That describes a companion product, not a worse one, and plenty of venues run it next to a till they like. What it does mean is that a venue on me&u has at least two products before it has a roster, where a restaurant POS system that already holds the menu, the diary and the staff record has one.

Who should still choose me&u

A high volume bar, a stadium or a multi level venue where ordering at the table is the business model rather than a convenience, and where the till is already chosen. Their ordering experience is the best in the country at what it does, and if the queue at the bar is your real problem then that is the right buy.

If you are buying the diary as well

Then compare the booking rows, not the brand. Allvio Complete, the all in one business software plan, is $399 per month ex GST for one location and $299 per month for each extra one, with every app switched on and no per user charge, and the same subscription also covers your invoicing, payroll and the books. Build your own starts at $20 per month per app. Hardware is sold outright at $1,499 ex GST for the single station, $1,869 retail and $2,499 restaurant, and the trial runs 30 days with no card.

Frequently asked questions

Is me&u a POS system?

No, and it has never claimed to be. Nine selling rows, sales and end of day reporting, rostering, timesheets, leave and the whole back office sit outside its purpose, which is 19 of the 43 rows. It is a companion product that runs next to a till, so a venue on me&u has at least two products before it has a roster.

Does me&u do reservations now?

Yes. It has launched an all in one reservations, voice and functions platform, and the booking diary is a yes row. Four booking rows cannot be established from its published material: bookings from your own website, deposits and no show protection, waitlist and walk ins, and guest confirmations and reminders. Those are questions to put to them in writing rather than assume either way.

What is the best me&u alternative for a venue that also needs a till?

If you need the till, the diary, marketing, rostering and the books alongside QR ordering, Allvio covers those in one subscription. On pure ordering me&u is ahead on three rows: nested modifiers, online bill splitting and automatic upsell prompts are not in Allvio yet. Allvio Complete is $399 per month ex GST for one location, with a 30 day trial and no card.

Does me&u charge commission on orders?

Check their current agreement, because pricing changes and we do not publish another vendor's rates here. Allvio's ordering is commission free on pickup and takeaway from your own site, which is the row most owners are actually comparing when they ask.

Every cell above comes from each vendor's own published material, checked in August 2026. Products change constantly: always confirm current capability directly with each vendor before deciding.
